Our Story

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. — African Proverb

Board members and friends of HOPE Works, Steps to End Domestic Violence and the Burlington and South Burlington Firefighters Associations join Dragonheart Vermont’s effort to strengthen and empower breast cancer survivors and supporters in the shared spirit of teamwork and community giving.

The Burlington and South Burlington Firefighters Associations represent the men and women of the Burlington and South Burlington Fire Departments who provide both fire and emergency medical services to our communities. Our members are passionate and committed to public service and work hard to ensure our respective communities are safe and healthy.

HOPE Works is dedicated to ending all forms of sexual violence. We are committed to serving the Chittenden County community through the continued provision of our services and to being a leading voice in the State of Vermont for meaningful change in law and society. We provide crisis counseling and advocacy for those whose lives have been affected by sexual violence. Our education outreach work strives to change attitudes and beliefs that perpetuate and condone the cycle of violence. We constantly seek to expand our efforts to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse community and welcome all to our agency.

Steps to End Domestic Violence addresses the needs of those affected by domestic violence in Chittenden County, Vermont. Our mission is to assist in the transition to a safe, independent life for all those who have been affected physically, sexually, emotionally, or economically by domestic abuse and to promote a culture that fosters justice, equity and safety.
