I have not only a professional connection to the world of cancer as the Practice Supervisor of Hematology/Oncology and Surgical Oncology but also a personal connection with losing my Mom to cancer. My Mom spent only one night at the Respite house, but it was such a blessing to have such a beautiful space for my Mom, family and I to say our last goodbyes. Funds raised from this year’s Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival from Dragonheart Vermont will establish a “CARE FUND” to help ensure Respite House care is available to all who need it, regardless of ability to pay. The McClure Miller Respite House provides a home-away-from-home for people facing a terminal illness whose care needs are too complex to be managed at home.
