The Cancer Patient Support Foundation (CPSF) is an independent, nonproﬁt organization. We serve Vermont cancer patients and their families in a time of extraordinary need by providing financial assistance and support during diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. The Foundation’s vision is that all who face cancer can do so with dignity, confidence and serenity.

“Freedom and Unity” is a group of Town and City Clerks, our families, and friends from all over Vermont. Clerks take an oath to support the Constitution of the State of Vermont and of the United States. We are the record keepers at the heart of our communities, serving everyone equally, justly and respectfully. We come together under the leadership of Co-Captain Jessica Alexander, whose vision of “Freedom and Unity” came to her in a dream. Some of us on Freedom and Unity are cancer survivors, and all of us are supporters. In the spirit of teamwork and community giving, we are honored to Ride the Dragon in support of breast cancer survivors, this year’s partner the Integrative Therapies programs at UVM Cancer Center, and so much more!

Make Waves for Wellness – UVMMC

Our crew is comprised of 21 UVMMC employees and family members from a wide range of professional and clinical care areas across the hospital and from our satellite sites across the state. Together our team members are energized and interested in participating in the Dragonheart event this year to support our patients and families living with a cancer diagnosis. Many on the team have been touched themselves by a cancer diagnosis and have used integrative therapies to heal and live healthy lives. Everyone on the team is excited to participate and support Integrative Therapies at the UVM Cancer Center.
Miller Family Doggie Paddlers
Captain: Michelle Miller
We are family and “like family” of Dragonheart Vermont member Michelle Miller. We are a bunch of dog lovers (Michelle’s Sampson is our mascot) and therefore we are the Doggie Paddlers! Like all of you this summer, we are missing our usual connections with family and friends and the great outdoors, but we feel lucky that we are healthy and able to participate. We intend to get a few laughs and a little bit of exercise out of our participation–as well as support the fundraising efforts of a cause that we believe in.

At National Life Group we are committed to our “Do Good, Be Good, Make Good” way of life. It really is a way of life that we live at the office, as well as in our personal lives. One of the many ways that we spread the GOOD is by giving back to our communities. What better way to Do Good than to give back through this wonderful yearly event hosted by Dragonheart Vermont. Rhythm and Blues – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont’s Rhythm and Blues team will rock (but hopefully not roll!) through the waves to victory, paddling toward a healthier Vermont! Our goal is to make the competition sing the “blues” and help find a cure for breast cancer. Come race day, we’ll be paddlin’ with rhythm.

Back again for 2020, this compilation of friends, family, hockey and rugby connections, and the Soaring on team from 2017 will try again to take home a trophy! Soaring On was created by the team captain after surviving ovarian cancer. From diagnosis to survivor Gabrielle appreciated the support of community and the resources needed for cancer survivors. Our team is completely funded by the fundraising done by each of the individual paddlers on our team. We look forward to seeing you on the water!
Stream Team – UVM Medical Center Urology Department

This team is made up of the urology division at UVM fully supports integrative care. We continue to do so, especially after one of our main urology nurses, Kathy, developed breast cancer and is currently undergoing therapy while continuing to work and continuing to be part of our stream team! The support of integrative therapy has taken on a new meaning for us. We look forward to coming together to race for this cause. Thank you Dragonheart Vermont and the McClure Miller Respite House.

The Vermont Bike Tours (Country Walkers) and Hazelett Corporation teams have joined forces this year to create this collaborative team. Hazelett’s team (the “Whitecaps” part of our name) is made up of employees, family, and friends who have come together for fun to proudly support a great cause. This dedicated support of the local community for more than 60 years designs, manufactures, installs, and services continuous casting equipment for customers in the metals industry in more than 27 countries.
The “Travelers” portion of the team is comprised of the award-winning tour company of Vermont Bike Tours/Country Walkers. Voted by Travel & Leisure as one of the world’s best tour operators and offering biking tours, walking tours and bike & barge tours, VBT/CW looks forward to supporting Dragonheart Vermont and Integrative Therapies.
