Cancer has hit this family too many times. We are fighting back and have gathered friends and relatives to paddle for the first time in the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival. The 23tons team is made up of family members and good friends, from all over New England, New York and as far away as Chicago. We’ll paddle together showing our unity and love for our friends and family members who have or are experiencing cancer, the fear it brings, and the optimism of conquering this terrible disease.

We offer an open, integrated portfolio of healthcare information technology solutions for hospitals, physician practices, and extended care organizations.  We connect people, places and information across all care settings through our Open, Connected Community of Health. Our full suite of population health solutions build on the power of our comprehensive suite of Clinical and Revenue Cycle core products. The Vermont office of Allscripts, employees, family and friends make up our team for this Festival and we look forward to paddling for a cause; Dragonheart Vermont and UVM Integrative Therapies at the UVM Cancer Center.

We are a dynamic team of educationally focused, spirited paddlers. This will be the 10th year Champlain College has participated in this event. It is an honor to be a part of this fun and very meaningful fundraiser to join in the effort to support those who previously or currently live life fully with cancer.

Our Sisters team is made up of Breast Cancer Survivors who have found that paddling a dragon boat has helped them recover, get back into tip-top condition and find support with a great group of women and men in the Dragonheart Vermont organization. We are a strong team, competing around the country and the world. We have a fun time, but we are tough to beat in a boat!!

Soul Sisters are breast cancer survivors who enjoy paddling in the Dragonheart Vermont organization. We are women who have been with the organization for many years and are still active, strong, and love to exercise. We paddle with energy and enthusiasm and love to be with the women and men of Dragonheart Vermont.

We represent the Inpatient Rehab Center at UVM Medical Center where we are dedicated to helping people return to everyday life. We are a team made up of Feisty, Friendly, Fun-Minded, First Timers… coming together to paddle for a great cause.  Collectively, we are cancer survivors and we treat cancer patients. We truly are committed to making the patients’ time with us as good an experience as possible. We are caring, busy, maybe over-committed but couldn’t resist our excitement to build a team to do GOOD, while having fun and trying a new experience.

Freedom and Unity

“Freedom and Unity” is a group of Town and City Clerks, our families, and friends from all over Vermont. Clerks take an oath to support the Constitution of the State of Vermont and of the United States. We are the record keepers at the heart of our communities, serving everyone equally, justly and respectfully. We come together under the leadership of Captain Jessica Alexander, who’s vision of “Freedom and Unity” came to her in a dream. Some of us on Freedom and Unity are cancer survivors,  and all of us are supporters. In the spirit of teamwork and community giving, we are honored to Ride the Dragon in support of breast cancer survivors, this year’s partner Integrative Therapies at the UVM Cancer Center, and so much more!

The C2 Dragon Boat team From C2 Shining Sea is thrilled to be participating in the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival for our fourth year! In 2014 we lost our friend, mentor and C2 co-founder Carolyn Edwards after her brave and graceful journey with cancer.  We dedicate this to her, and the many other people in our lives who have been affected by this disease. Our team has worked hard to be in the top five fundraising teams each year we’ve competed, and we were #1 in 2014.  We’ve raised over $20,000 for Dragonheart Vermont and their programs – we are passionate about this cause! Graceful Passage- VNA Hospice Team   (Vermont Respite)

The Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties (VNA) opened the doors to the new McClure Miller VNA Respite House in September, 2016. The ribbon cutting celebrated completion of the 21-room Respite House, which will replaced the 13-room Vermont Respite House located in Williston. We are very honored to be supporting Dragonheart Vermont and its pledge partner Integrative Therapies at the UVM Cancer Center.

Snap Dragonz   (Snap Fitness – Burlington)

Snap Fitness is a community gym dedicated to improving the lives of its members and the community. Our team is a collection of people at various fitness levels looking to engage in something new, fun, and challenging.  The Snap Dragonz is a group of fitness enthusiasts that range from goal setters, goal getters to trend setters. This is year two for us in the Dragon Boat Festival. Last year we made a splash with our wild tent site and offered chances to get swole in between heats. This year is a treat as we will race our fellow Snap Fitness gyms in the goal of raising the most money for cancer survivors. Instead of just training hard to win easy we are looking to fundraise like never before for a goal and cause that is close to so many of our hearts. We want to race to help end cancer and help all of our survivors. Look for red on race day and you’ll find us. Come by our Burlington location to get your fitness fix before, during, or after the race. We’ll see you at the finish line.

The dragon boat team Snap Destroyoars is made up of members from the community who attend our local gym, Snap Fitness Berlin. We are all dedicated, self-motivated, driven people who are so excited to be a part of this great cause! Many of us have never paddled before, but we are up for the challenge! See you all on the water!

Hello everyone we are a fitness team of all walks of fitness. We are a community gym in a small town with very active members! This will be our third year racing and some paddlers have been part of the team since the first year and pride themselves in what we thrive to do! We love coming together this time of year to help raise awareness and money for a very important cause! Thank you to all who take a minute of their time to donate to this Energetic team!!

Soaring On – Ruck & Rower

Our team has been created by two former teams, Soaring On and Burlington Rugby Ruck ‘N Rowers.  Soaring On was created by the team captain after surviving ovarian cancer. From diagnosis to survivor Gabrielle appreciated the support of community and the resources needed for cancer survivors. Team Soaring On is made up of family, friends and colleagues of Gabrielle.  A few community members from Burlington Rugby and Hockey took up the challenge of raising funds while dragon boating on Lake Champlain.


Springfield Dragon Rays

We are a group of dragon boat paddlers that has been a vital part of the Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club (PVRC) since 2013. The first established dragon boat team in Western Massachusetts, the Dragon Rays paddle two or more times a week on the Connecticut River and we spend the winter season working out together to build strength and endurance as a team. PVRC also is committed to raising awareness about breast cancer research.  We are proud to participate in the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival supporting Dragonheart Vermont and Integrative Therapies at the UVM Cancer Center.

Stream Team UVM Medical Center Urology Department

This team is made up of the urology division at UVM fully supports integrative care.  We continue to do so, especially after one of our main urology nurses, Kathy, developed breast cancer and is currently undergoing therapy while  continuing to work and continuing to be part of our stream team! The support of integrative therapy has taken on a new meaning for us. We look forward to coming together to race for this cause. Live Life Well, the newly adopted slogan of the Union Mutual Wellness Team, is more than words on paper – it’s a philosophy brought to life with numerous community and internal events our employees participate in throughout the year. In 2017, highlights included the Dragon Boat Festival, Strike Three Foundation Wiffle Ball Tournament, the American Cancer Society’s Pulling for Hope, and the fourth straight year as the lead sponsor of the Special Olympics Vermont Summer Games – which has grown to include over two dozen employees and family members taking part in the Penguin Plunge in early February. For 2018, we’re excited to continue our community and civic engagement, and we’re proud to work alongside the individuals that share our passion and dedication. See you on the water!

UVMMC High on Wellness

Our crew is comprised of 21 UVM MC employees and family members from a wide range of professional and clinical care areas across the hospital and from our satellite sites across the state.  Together our team members are energized and interested in participating in the Dragonheart event this year to support our patients and families living with a cancer diagnosis. The aspect that Integrative Therapies at the UVM Cancer Center will be supported by the proceeds from the event is a big motivator for many of us to participate.  Many on the team have been touched themselves by a cancer diagnosis and have used integrative therapies to heal and live healthy lives. Everyone on the team is excited to participate! I want to thank Greg LaMoy, Employee Wellness Health Coach for his inspiration and motivation to fill up our dragon boat with employees who put the patient at the center of the work we do every day.

A group of randomly connected women. Spirited and High Energy, whom have boundless imagination! We work hard to raise as much money as we can, each Dragonboat Season! VIP Dragon Boat

Vermont Information Processing, VIP is the leading technology supplier for brewers, distributors, wineries, soda bottlers, and other companies in the beverage industry. We are a mere representation of the 400+ employee-owners of a great company and insatiably competitive athletes.  We are hockey players, basketball players, bikers, runners, skiers… and now Dragonboat paddlers. Our first entrance into this event this year, we are looking forward to staying “afloat in our boat”. Long live the Dragonboat Fest! Wellness Warriors

Wellness Warriors is Massachusetts’ first dragon boat team for cancer survivors. We provide a paddling support group for men and women of all ages diagnosed with many different types of cancer. No matter where we are on the cancer journey, it is our rise to the physical challenges of dragon boat paddling, our love of this exciting sport and our deep care for each other that create magic in the boat. Our mission is to provide new opportunities for cancer survivors to heal – both physically and emotionally – by being active participants in their own recovery and part of a mutually empowering dragon boat team.
 

WND & WVS   (Wind & Waves, The Spot & The Spot on The Dock)

WND&WVS is all about the passion of getting out on the water. Surfing, stand up paddling, windsurfing, and kiteboarding are the athletic pursuits of virtually all men and women who love to glide across the water under the power of wind and waves.  We operate out of a funky little surf shop in the south end of town dedicated to getting our customers smiling and paddling on our greatest local water. We are the exclusive Vermont dealer for Starboard and Nash paddle boards and accessories.  We can find what works best for you. 

We are the sister company to The Spot restaurant which resides a block from the shop. The Spot is a surf-style restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week in an Hawaiian-style atmosphere. We also now own The Spot on the Dock – the old Breakwaters. Be sure to check it out on your next visit to the shop. Our team is made up of employees, family and friends ready to COMPETE FOR THE COVETED TROPHY!!
