Flower Ceremony Song Lyrics

One of the traditions of our Flower Ceremony at the Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival is all of the participants in our Sisters at Heart celebration singing a special song as we join our boats, hands and hearts together on the water. This year, as in most years past, breast cancer survivor and Dragonheart member, Bonnie Jean Aharonian, will lead us in a song she has adapted and we hope you will print the lyrics and practice with your team so we can all sing in honor of those survivors here today and those who remain with us in our hearts.

We have included the lyrics of Bonnie Jean’s adaptation of Rascal Flatts song “I Won’t Let Go” with the audio file at the bottom you can listen to a live performance by Bonnie Jean and Suzanne Blanchard, her accompanist, to get the feel for the song. We will also practice it on Saturday during our luncheon.

Song Lyrics

It’s like a storm
That cut a path
It breaks your will
It feels like that

You think you’re lost,but you’re not lost
On your own, you’re not alone.

When you’ve done all you can do, and you can’t cope.
I will dry your eyes,I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight and I won’t let go.

It hurts my heart to see you cry
I know it’s dark this part of life
Oh it finds us all and we’re too small
To stop the rain,oh but when it rains
